Desconexión social y riesgo de suicidio en la vejez (Ensayo clínico R21 opcional)

Esta iniciativa busca solicitar aplicaciones para proyectos de investigación que aborden el vínculo entre la desconexión social, incluyendo tanto el aislamiento social objetivo como el aislamiento social percibido (también conocido como soledad), y el suicidio en la vejez. Se hace hincapié en la investigación que identifica mecanismos neurobiológicos y ambientales asociados con el aislamiento social y la soledad que aumentan el riesgo de pensamientos y comportamientos suicidas en la vejez, que utiliza un enfoque de terapéutica experimental para identificar objetivos y desarrollar y probar intervenciones para prevenir el suicidio en la vejez, y que desarrolla nuevos y modifica modelos de prestación de servicios existentes para mejorar la conexión social en la vejez para prevenir el suicidio.
