O programa Stimulating Hematology Investigation: New Endeavors (SHINE) destina-se a promover pesquisas hematológicas não malignas inovadoras e de alta qualidade, relevantes para as missões do National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institute of Aging (NIA) e National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Candidaturas a projetos de pesquisa iniciados por investigadores (R01s) em áreas específicas de pesquisa hematológica básica e de translação precoce são convidadas para este programa que apoia o crescimento no domínio da pesquisa hematológica não maligna. Tópicos emergentes específicos que estão na vanguarda do campo mudarão ao longo do tempo e serão atualizados anualmente através do NIH Guide to Grants and Contracts e hiperlinkados a este NOFO.
