The objectives are multiple: achieving good status of water bodies, guaranteeing the availability of water resources, preventing and managing floods, and preserving biodiversity, in a context of climate change.
To address these challenges, the Water Agency supports agroecological transition and favors practices or changes at the farm system level, such as organic farming, conservation agriculture, agroforestry and afforestation, grass-fed livestock, and the establishment of low-input crops.
More specifically, the Water Agency has defined specific objectives for:
- combating pollution in water-sensitive areas and more particularly in priority catchment areas where the agency favors territorial projects led by local authorities and supports actions contributing to reducing or controlling pressures to a level compatible with the state of water resources and associated public health issues;
- maintaining grasslands and the program for maintaining agriculture in wetlands, which aims to maintain surfaces and demonstrate the interest for farmers with livestock to rely on natural grasslands;
- quantitative water management and adaptation to climate change for which stabilization of withdrawals is targeted…
