VOLUNTEERS FOR THE AMAZONIA PROGRAM (V-AMAZONIE)

Description

The "Volunteers for the Amazonia" program thus reinforces the contribution of French volunteering to the challenge of preserving primary forests by supporting actors in countries of the Amazon basin. Planned for a duration of 30 months, the program is implemented by France Volontaires with the financial support of the Delegation for Territorial Collectivities and Civil Society (DGM/DCTCIV) of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The target countries are Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname, as well as metropolitan France and overseas territories. With a duration of 30 months, the program plans to: - Mobilize at least 50 volunteers in support of high-impact initiatives driven by civil society organizations in the Amazon basin countries; - Strengthen the capacities and networking of 100 civil society organizations working for the preservation of the Amazon rainforest or in support of local communities and indigenous peoples. The first call for expressions of interest (AMI), launched in 2025, allowed the selection of 49 volunteer missions under schemes governed by French law.
