Benefit from studies supporting rewilding operations in the city

Slowing down urbanization and rewilding urban environments are becoming two essential and complementary strategies. They are all the more pressing as biodiversity is declining sharply in cities, the effects of climate change (runoff, floods, urban heat islands) are intensifying, and health and well-being are deteriorating in metropolitan areas.

However, our cities are full of unnecessarily asphalted or concreted spaces where nature could reclaim its rights. This potential, currently poorly quantified, could be mobilized to enlarge natural spaces, connect them, reopen urban rivers, restore wetlands, and create new natural spaces.

To meet this challenge, local authorities and their public and private partners first need to identify priority areas for rewilding and recommendations for technical support.
