The Occitanie Region is committed to the restoration of cultural heritage.

The region is rich in historical heritage ranging from prehistory to the contemporary era. Its diversity and quality give the regional territory a strong personality, testifying to the permanence of human occupation, the circulation of knowledge and techniques, as well as the architectural dynamism or inventiveness of its inhabitants.

The richness and diversity of heritage are recognized through numerous international and national labels: 8 sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, 20 protected sectors, 24 Cities or Countries of Art and History, 134 "museums of France", nearly 5,000 Historical Monuments.
