The demographics of the GAL Alsace Centrale area show several phenomena: demographic growth in a major part of the territory and a loss of inhabitants in the Communauté de communes du Val d'Argent. These demographic characteristics raise the following question: "How to support and adapt local services and facilities to the needs of the populations and the capacity of the territory?"
At the same time, some parts of the territory are involved in the Petites Villes de Demain, Action cœur de ville and ORT (CC Vallée de Villé, CC du Val d'Argent, CC du Ried de Marckolsheim, CC de Sélestat, Villé, Marckolsheim) schemes and are addressing issues such as housing and commerce in town centers. During the participatory workshops conducted as part of the LEADER application, a need was identified to continue and strengthen these actions to create social ties, connections between local actors, promote local and solidarity initiatives, and revitalize centralities and village centers.
Furthermore, tourism represents an important activity for the economy of Central Alsace, whose main assets are its historical, architectural, and natural heritage.
