Horizon Europe
Cascade funding (FSTP – Financial Support to Third Parties). The objective of each third-party replication project is to deploy, test, and engage developed sustainable sediment solutions within a new regional freshwater ecosystem type (lotic, lentic, transitional/coastal, or anthropogenic). Every selected project must execute a mandatory work plan divided into specific tasks over three programmatic phases: Project Definition (Months 1–2), Project Implementation (Months 3–6), and Project Evaluation (Months 7–9).Core tasks across these phases include:Developing a localised baseline assessment, regional water basin characterisation, and local stakeholder mapping database.Executing targeted regional monitoring activities from the designated catalogue, focusing on flow monitoring, sediment quantity monitoring, and/or rapid ecotoxicological sediment quality assessments.Conducting active community stakeholder engagement, multi-actor feedback sessions, and environmental awareness campaigns to co-design future measure protocols.Formulating a comprehensive Regional Strategic Action Plan and Implementation Roadmap with indicative budgets and local timelines to upscale and replicate sustainable practices across other EU basins.Technical Mentoring SupportThroughout the entire nine-month duration, selected associated regions will receive dedicated, direct technical support from assigned technical partners and project mentors. This provision includes up to eight (8) hours of individual technical mentoring per month per funded project. Mentors will work closely with your local team from the onboarding phase to co-define your project specifications, establish your individual budget and indicators, monitor your practical pilot implementation progress, and facilitate cross-border data harmonisation with the wider consortium network.
