I3 Instrument
Cascade funding (FSTP – Financial Support to Third Parties). The scope of the I3FLOAT 1st Open Call is to fund SMEs with proposed innovations in the field of Floating Offshore Wind and proposing a technological solution to one of the challenges posed by the I3FLOAT project. The support scheme aims to fund projects that are relatively close to commercialisation. The expected current TRLs for projects funded under the support scheme are TRL 6-8.Applicants to the 1st Open Call should propose a project that is in line with the different challenges the I3FLOAT project has identified. These challenges can be Open Challenges, which means solutions that are aligned with any of the innovation lines prioritised in the Strategic Innovation Agenda, or Specific Challenges, more concrete and defined by a Challenge Owner.Open Challenges refers to innovations that are aligned with the 44 prioritised innovation lines identified in the Floating Wind Strategic Innovation Agenda in areas such as Floating substructures, mooring systems and dynamic cables; Electrical infrastructure and grid connection; Wind turbine, tower or alternative supporting structures and FOW-specific control; Industrialisation; Logistics and offshore installation; Operation, Maintenance and Decommissioning. Further detail is available in the Annex 1 of the Submission Toolkit.Specific Challenges are related to specific sectoral needs proposed by so-called Challenge Owners. Examples would be the challenge "Single-pass welding outside for local FOWT serial assembly" proposed by I3FLOAT partner Eolink or "Logistic optimization on the transport of offshore wind structures" proposed by I3 Board member Navantia Seanergies. The list of the 11 Specific Challenges is available in Annex 2 of the Submission Toolkit.
