Promoting the renewal and reforestation of the Loire forest by assisting forest owners in establishing a diagnosis of plots to be exploited and renewed

A reforestation dynamic has been set up in Pays de la Loire in recent years under the impetus of several public policies that have proven to be complementary. A preliminary diagnosis is essential before any decision to renew a forest plot. This diagnosis aims at the following objectives:

• establish an inventory of the existing stand and evaluate its economic value;
• identify environmental issues;
• analyze forest sites and recommend suitable species;
• recommend a renewal method if necessary.

This diagnosis is conducted with a view to reforestation without prejudging the owner's decision; it should allow a better choice of renewal species in a context of climate change.
