Funding feasibility studies for methanization projects

The regional intervention framework for the production of renewable gases aims to support the initiation of methanization projects as well as their realization. In order to achieve the objectives of the Climate Plan, it concerns the following types of methanization projects:

• on-farm or centralized agricultural units,
• industrial units,
• territorial units,
• wastewater treatment plant units.

It also targets future renewable gas production sectors related to hydrogen, pyrogasification and power-to-gas. Financial support from the Region is not systematic. It is assessed by the Region based on an analysis of the projected profitability of the projects and their technical and environmental quality, based on the project's economic model and the return on investment period.

Depending on the typology of the project, the following regulations will be applied:

• the exempted framework regime N°SA.40391 relating to aid for research, development and innovation (RDI) for the period 2014-2020;
• the exempted framework regime N°SA.40405 relating to aid for environmental protection for the period 2014-2020;

The granting of the subsidy will be subject to a vote by the Regional Council or its permanent commission.
