Training on the development of main roads (ARP): taking into account the changes introduced by the 2022 Cerema guide (Training)

Two-lane, three-lane, or 2x2-lane main roads, located outside urban areas and equipped with at-grade intersections, constitute a heritage of approximately 100,000 km, managed primarily by local authorities. They play a structuring role for the networks and territories in which they are located, fulfilling various functions in the service of mobility.

Their development must take into account these different functions, while integrating the diversity of users, motorized or not, in order to provide them with an appropriate level of service and to enhance their safety.

For this, the technical recommendations were updated in August 2022 in a renewed version of the guide "Development of Main Roads" which now constitutes the reference to be taken into account by designers.

Educational objectives

At the end of the training, the trainee will be able to:

Identify and apply the different design rules to be taken into account for the development of a main road
Identify and integrate the main changes in issues and technical rules introduced by the guide
Implement a global development design integrating all the rules and issues of the guide,
Evaluate the correct application of the guide in a project carried out by a third party
