Install equipment for road safety improvement

The Ministry of Interior, Overseas Territories and Local Authorities annually transfers to the departments the responsibility of distributing a financial envelope, derived from police fines related to road traffic, among eligible municipalities, namely all municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants (more populated municipalities directly receiving their allocation). The entire envelope is distributed among projects that aim to improve road safety.

Five families of works are eligible:

1. Development of singular points

- curve rectifications, intersection developments, visibility clearances, crossing areas;

- raised platforms, speed bumps (complying with standards).

2. Signaling

- vertical (supply and installation of police signaling, excluding micro-signaling and directional signaling);

- horizontal (safety-related road markings, 30 km/h zones, platform markings and signaling);

- traffic lights (installation and modernization).

3. Public lighting

- creation or extension of the network;

- improvement of lighting (excluding maintenance and undergrounding).
