Restoring the cultural heritage of municipalities with less than 30,000 inhabitants

Context:

The region is rich in historical heritage ranging from prehistory to contemporary times. Its diversity and quality give the regional territory a strong personality, testifying to the permanence of human occupation, the circulation of knowledge and techniques, as well as the architectural dynamism or inventiveness of its inhabitants.

The richness and diversity of the heritage are recognized through numerous international and national labels: 8 sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, 20 protected sectors, 24 Cities or Countries of Art and History, 134 "museums of France", nearly 5,000 Historical Monuments.

Strategic objectives:

• contribute to strengthening the personality of the Occitanie region, as the heritage offering has a decisive impact on the territory's attractiveness and tourist numbers; this personality is an expression of excellence and quality of life;
