Restore environments and develop our knowledge of marine biodiversity

This action sheet is now an essential pillar for maintaining an attractive and ecologically sound fishing and aquaculture sector. It is based on a collective desire to improve knowledge of the marine environment, its biodiversity, and to improve the ecological state of our coastlines, in order to preserve fishery resources. This involves relying on the 2030 Agenda, particularly objective 14 on aquatic life, "conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development".

In addition, it is necessary to be able to understand the consequences of climate change on biodiversity, fauna and flora, in order to best anticipate the future of the Seine-Maritime fishing sector, particularly the species that will be fished there. It is therefore a question of being able to identify the impact of climate change on local fishery and aquaculture species in order to adapt to it, notably by strengthening scientific cooperation. We must be able to popularize knowledge of the marine environment for better appropriation by local actors of the characteristics and evolutions of our coastal waters.
