Support forest development and climate change adaptation needs

The forest cycle has the characteristic of being able to generate both economic added value through the valorization of wood products and environmental benefits (forest amenities). In some cases, silvicultural work may be necessary for the completion of the production cycle and justify targeted incentive financing for the most relevant interventions. Highlighting priority silvicultural work itineraries meets this need. In addition to these itineraries, a broad approach to reforestation or enrichment with regard to silvicultural objectives and accompanying species will make it possible to finance the purchase of plants and investments related to forest plantations when natural regeneration encounters difficulties in establishing itself and in the case of dieback due to climate change.

The objectives are:

• encourage public and private owners to increase areas with a “timber” valorization objective in sustainable management documents;
• encourage and help owners to carry out silvicultural work and reforestation or enrichment operations where appropriate;
• help natural regeneration and adaptation to climate change;
• promote and structure the type of work that can be funded by the RESPIR Fund;
• promote the intervention of a manager in private forests.
