A significant decline in the density of fruit orchards is observed in our countryside, due to the aging of trees and storms that lead to the gradual disappearance of many of them. In addition, Haute-Marne is renowned for its Burgundy truffles (Tuber uncinatum). In rural areas, the orchard is an essential component of our villages' heritage, through its social dimension (rural traditions and know-how linked to local fruit production), its landscape aspect, and its role in biodiversity (especially birds). To this end, the Department financially supports rural actors who plan the planting of fruit and/or truffle trees.
