Many territorial actors hold archives that they wish to make as widely accessible as possible to the public. This provision can involve the restoration of archives; processing, i.e. the classification of documents; digitization, i.e. the conversion of a physical medium to a digital medium; or even promotion, which can be done by putting documents online, publishing works, setting up exhibitions, organizing study days, implementing cultural and educational projects, etc.
