GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND LOGIC OF INTERVENTION

The territory has a relatively unspoiled environment, but it bears the traces of past activities that have left behind brownfields and potentially polluted sites. Contemporary activities also exert pressure on the environment, as does climate change.

Agriculture, dominated by mixed farming and significant livestock, is an essential component of the territory. Organic production is booming, demand for small-scale farming is rising (linked to the vegetable test site project led by Pays Comminges Pyrénées), and the meat sector is being structured.

Transport options remain limited. Pays Comminges Pyrénées must improve mobility throughout its territory to make it accessible to all populations, prioritizing the development of multimodal, sustainable, and energy-efficient mobility. The fact that 78% of active workers live and work in the territory shows that the potential for developing alternatives to individual cars is real.

The challenges: Enhance the environment, natural heritage, and quality of life; encourage local and sustainable agriculture and consumption; develop the territory's renewable energy potential and adapt the territory to climate change.
