Il premio Method to Extend Research in Time (MERIT) (R37) del National Cancer Institute (NCI) fornisce un supporto di sovvenzione esteso agli Early Stage Investigators (ESI). Fornendo tale opportunità di supporto a lungo termine agli ESI, l'NCI intende offrire flessibilità e opportunità di creatività e innovazione e tempo aggiuntivo per avviare con successo le loro carriere e per affermarsi maggiormente prima di dover presentare domande di rinnovo (NOT-CA-18-037). L'obiettivo del premio ESI MERIT dell'NCI è consentire agli investigatori idonei l'opportunità di ottenere fino a 7 anni di supporto in due segmenti:
