Lead a sustainable water resource management project

Omnipresent, water greatly contributes to regional attractiveness. However, demographic and tourist dynamism, combined with numerous economic uses, exert increasing pressure on the resource, particularly with the effects of climate change.

Voted on June 22, 2018, by the Région Occitanie, this intervention mechanism for sustainable water resource management aims to continue this economic development, by helping to limit competition between uses and to use water resources responsibly. It primarily encourages actions for water saving and preservation and the optimization of resource use; it also allows, under certain conditions, the support for the mobilization of new resources.

This mechanism constitutes an essential component of the regional Intervention Plan for Water adopted by regional elected officials in June 2018.

Operations related to the small water cycle are not covered by this intervention mechanism:

• installation of drinking water networks and improvement of their efficiency,
• sanitation (collective or autonomous),
• protection of drinking water catchments (within the framework of the establishment of protection perimeters).
