Implement energy renovation of local public buildings

Important: since July 2026, this Green Fund measure has been strengthened to better support communities in taking into account the summer comfort of their buildings. This results in additional support for passive summer comfort works or the installation of active cooling systems (under conditions). Project leaders can submit an accelerated request (without prior energy study) for funding.

Ecological ambition of the funded project

The Green Fund supports the energy renovation of buildings belonging to local authorities and their groupings, with the aim of sustainably reducing their energy consumption and preserving thermal comfort in a context of global warming and recurring heatwaves in mainland France.

For energy renovation projects, a minimum reduction of 40% in final energy consumption is expected. The primary goal is to achieve the best energy performance of the building envelope. A significant reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is also expected, which can be achieved by replacing fossil fuel boilers.
