Preventing major natural risks - Major Natural Risk Prevention Fund (FPRNM)

The major natural risk prevention fund (FPRNM), known as the Barnier fund, supports measures to prevent and protect people and property exposed to major natural risks.

This fund can be mobilized by local authorities, small businesses, individuals, and state services to ensure the preservation of human lives and to implement damage prevention approaches according to the framework set by law.

In the face of increasingly frequent and intense disasters, the Barnier fund is now an indispensable lever for adapting territories to climate change.

As part of the 2021 finance bill, the Government will propose to Parliament to set the fund's resources at 205M€ for natural risk prevention in the context of climate change.

The Barnier fund can be mobilized for investment expenses to carry out studies, works, or equipment for prevention or protection against natural risks. It can also be mobilized for preventive information actions on major risks that contribute to developing risk awareness.
