Carry out local projects in circular economy and waste management

Context and objectives:

The NOTRe law has entrusted the Regions with the development of the Regional Waste Prevention and Management Plan (PRPGD), which must enable the achievement of national objectives set by the Energy Transition for Green Growth law. This plan defines and coordinates for 12 years all actions to achieve waste prevention and management objectives. It includes a Regional Action Plan for the Circular Economy (PRAEC), which was developed in consultation and mobilizes stakeholders around 6 axes: governance, economic systems, territories, public policies, research and innovation, and waste.

In order to encourage the emergence of new actions and support the projects of local stakeholders, the Region adopted three types of aid on July 20, 2017 to contribute to the development of waste prevention and recovery, and to concretely engage Occitanie in the transition towards a more circular economy:

• Aid for the animation of regional collective actions
• Aid for strategic studies
• Aid for the implementation of local projects for waste prevention, management, recovery, and the development of the circular economy.
