Support for the acquisition and restoration of heritage library documents (FRRAB)

The aid scheme for the acquisition and restoration of heritage documents, which only exists in certain French regions, aims to support territorial libraries in their projects for the acquisition and/or restoration of manuscripts, old printed books or artists' books, prints or photographs through regional funds financed equally by the State (decentralized services of the Ministry of Culture, i.e. the DRAC) and the regions.

What is a heritage document?

The term "written heritage" refers to collections of manuscripts and archives, printed books prior to 1830 and other specialized collections (maps and plans, prints, photographs, coins and medals, etc.) preserved by French territorial libraries and made available to the public.

"Heritage" documents are rare, precious, old or contemporary documents, belonging to the State or a local authority, whatever their nature, origin, or medium and which are subject to a decision of permanent conservation.
