Enriching the collections of French museums (FRAM)

Enriching a museum's collections helps to disseminate art, make it known to the general public, and enhance visitors' enjoyment. This enrichment can be achieved through donations and patronage or through the purchase of works. The Ministry of Culture supports owners and managers who help their museums conserve and protect their collections, through the Regional Acquisition Funds for Museums (FRAM).

What is the Regional Acquisition Fund for Museums (FRAM)?

Created in 1982 on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, as part of the overall decentralization policy, the Regional Acquisition Funds for Museums (FRAM) are financed by the State (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs) and the Regional Council. They are intended for museums holding the "Musée de France" designation.

This scheme helps a local authority, an association, or a public institution acquire new objects, works, or collections that are particularly representative at the regional level and whose cost would not allow their purchase without external aid.
