Funding performing arts festivals

The Occitanie region is particularly rich in festivals. Festivals are important disseminators of culture. They contribute to the circulation of artists and allow a wide audience to discover quality works. They strengthen territorial and social cohesion through the mobilization of a large number of volunteers, by carrying out actions outside the festival period (year-round programming, mediation actions: workshops, meetings, exchanges). They thus contribute to cultural democratization and regional planning, sometimes compensating for the lack of infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.

Furthermore, festivals work to promote regional heritage and develop tourism. Their role is significant in terms of direct and indirect economic impact (hotels, restaurants, campsites...). They play an increasing role in the field of sustainable development. The Region supports numerous festivals and promotes their actions via its website.

Projects supported by the Region must enable:

• a regional network;
• equal access to culture for all audiences;
• support for the festival economy and tourism;
• aid to develop actions in favor of sustainable development;
• support and accompaniment for professional artistic teams in the territory…
