RECOVERY PLAN

The good hydromorphological functioning of a watercourse can be characterized by diverse flow facies, natural banks, mobile alluvial bars, a rich and varied riparian forest, a fluvial corridor composed of varied natural environments, hydraulic annexes, a continuity between these environments and, above all, the freest possible fluvial dynamics. Free fluvial dynamics are constitutive of a diversity of habitats essential for aquatic and riparian fauna and flora. For estuaries, this functioning relies particularly on the development and maintenance of the intertidal zone, which notably hosts mudflats and salt marshes, connected hydraulic annexes, and on a fluvial regime respecting estuarine physicochemical and sedimentary balances (good positioning of the freshwater/saltwater interface and the fluvial current/tidal current interface).
