Poplar, present in Pays de la Loire since the 19th century, has become an essential element of the landscape and a valuable resource for the local poplar industry.
In certain specific territories like the Marais Poitevin, poplars can be planted in alignment along the hydrographic network, at the edge of agricultural plots. Strong identity and landscape markers, these alignments also play an environmental role, particularly in bank maintenance.
This scheme aims to support the production of quality poplars in alignment, by encouraging planting and reconstitution after harvest.
To be considered eligible, the project must:
- Include a minimum of 50 plants, up to a limit of 1,000 subsidized plants per beneficiary per year;
- Projects eligible for the "Merci le peuplier" charter or the regional scheme "Aide à la reconquête de friches de peupliers" are not eligible under this measure;
- Beneficiaries located in the Marais Poitevin territory must be signatories of the Marais Poitevin poplar charter.
